1. Jean¹ Durand dit Lafortune, son of Louis Durand and Madeleine Malvande, was born in Doeuil, Xaintes (saintes), Saintonge, France about 1636. Jean died 1671 in Quebec, Canada, at 35 years of age.

He married Catherine Annennontak in Notre Dame De Quebec, Quebec, 26 Sep 1662. Catherine was born in Indian Huron Country, Canada 1649. Catherine was the daughter of Nicolas Arendanki and Jeanne Otrihouandit. Catherine died 11 Jan 1708/9 in Batiscan, Que, at 59 years of age. At 17 years of age Catherine became the mother of Marie Catherine Durand 1666. At 20 years of age Catherine became the mother of Ignace Durand in Sillery, Quebec, 1669. At 21 years of age Catherine became the mother of Louis Durand in Sillery, Quebec, 13 Nov 1670. At 25 years of age Catherine became the mother of Jacques Coutourier 11 Feb 1674/5. At 29 years of age Catherine became the mother of Genevieve Coutourier 1678. At 31 years of age Catherine became the mother of Denis Joseph Coutourier 20 Mar 1680/1. At 34 years of age Catherine became the mother of Jean Coutourier 1683. At 37 years of age Catherine became the mother of Catherine Coutourier 6 Apr 1687.

At 30 years of age Jean became the father of Marie Catherine Durand 1666. At 33 years of age Jean became the father of Ignace Durand in Sillery, Quebec, 1669. At 34 years of age Jean became the father of Louis Durand in Sillery, Quebec, 13 Nov 1670.

Jean Durand dit Lafortune and Catherine Annennontak had the following children:

+ 2 i. Marie Catherine² Durand was born 1666.

3 ii. Ignace Durand was born in Sillery, Quebec 1669. Ignace died 1697 in Cap-st-ignace, Que, at 28 years of age. He married Marie Catherine Miville in Quebec City, Que, 24 Feb 1690/1.

+ 4 iii. Louis Durand was born 13 Nov 1670.
