He married Marie (Minnie) Parent in Polk County, WI, 13 Jul 1898. Marie was born in Somerset, WI Aug 1878. Marie died 19 Jan 1940 in Cook, MN, at 61 years of age. At 21 years of age Marie became the mother of Lawrence Durand in Wisconsin, Oct 1899. At 39 years of age Marie became the mother of Marie Durand in Cook, MN, 7 Mar 1918.

At 31 years of age Samuel became the father of Lawrence Durand in Wisconsin, Oct 1899. At 49 years of age Samuel became the father of Marie Durand in Cook, MN, 7 Mar 1918.
