He married Rosemary Helen Hub in Mankato, MN, 24 Apr 1954. Rosemary was born in Mankato, MN 25 Aug 1930. Rosemary is the daughter of Cyril Louis Hub and Mary Helen Buckley. At 25 years of age Rosemary became the mother of Mary Ellen Petersen 12 Jan 1956. At 26 years of age Rosemary became the mother of Michael Joseph Petersen 30 Jan 1957. At 35 years of age Rosemary became the mother of Ann Therese Petersen 13 Apr 1966.

At 25 years of age Francis became the father of Mary Ellen Petersen 12 Jan 1956. At 26 years of age Francis became the father of Michael Joseph Petersen 30 Jan 1957. At 35 years of age Francis became the father of Ann Therese Petersen 13 Apr 1966.
