He married Patrica Woetovech Thurmer 17 Mar 1978. Patrica was born 22 Apr 1934.

At 25 years of age Gerald became the father of Cindi Lu Durand in Cokato, MN, 8 Jan 1955. At 28 years of age Gerald became the father of Gerald Franklin Durand in Minneapolis, MN, 27 Jan 1958.
