The Deerslayer
John Durand writes again about his adolescence and his dream to become a deerslayer while hunting with other family members. Confessing later in life now, that the only thing he ever shot was to seriously maim some limbs high on a tree after nearly blowing off his cousins head with his shotgun. John also reports that he pawned his gun years ago and took up the pen instead.
