The narrative of this book was originally written in French by Joseph and Viateur Durand in 1954. These priests, located in Montreal Canada, collaborated with Elden E. DuRand, a cousin in Kentucky, during the 1940’s as they studied the church and civil records of Quebec. A French immigrant in 1657, Jean Durand married a Huron orphan survivor of the Iroquois wars who was educated by Ursuline nuns in Quebec.
